No less than 27 countries were represented in Paris for the 6th Pentawards Ceremony
More than 300 people journeyed to the City of Lights to attend the awards ceremony and receive in person their 2012 Pentawards. From China, Japan, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Peru, Colombia, Vietnam... as well as many European countries, the guests gathered in the prestigious Grand Salon Opéra at the InterContinental Le Grand Hotel to experience emotions long to be remembered.
The ceremony was hosted by Antoinette Lemens, Director of AntoinetteLemens Executive Search working in Paris and abroad, and Jean Jacques Evrard, co-founder of the Pentawards.
Gérard Caron, President of the Pentawards Jury declared the ceremony officially open.
The winners came onstage to receive their gold, silver and bronze awards. 5 winners received the Platinum Pentaward crowning the best of all 5 major categories and of course as a highlight, the prestigious and unique Diamond Pentaward was presented.
NEW - the Concept Pentawards
This year, for the first time since the creation of the Pentawards, the "Concept" category open to professionals as well as students was also crowned with gold, silver and bronze. In addition, the student who won the special prize awarded by BIC USA, came onstage to receive a Gold trophy, a BIC trophy and a cheque for $2,000 offered by BIC.
Two Honorary Pentawards for Yoshio Kato and Veuve Clicquot
The special founders' trophy was presented by the founders themselves to Mr Yoshio Kato for his whole career and contribution to Japanese design, as well as his creativity within Suntory Ltd. for more than 30 years.
The special founders' prize for a brand went this year to Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin for their creative excellence during the last 20 years. On this occasion, Pentawards and Sleever International created a special magnum bottle marking the event with the colours of Veuve Clicquot and the Pentawards insignia.

Special prizes were awarded by the sponsors of Pentawards.
For the fourth time, Sleever International, a pioneer and world leader in sleeve concept, presented a special award to the most remarkable creation of limited and collectors editions of the Pentawards 2012. This prize worth € 5,000 went to the Franco-American agency Raison Pure International for the creation of a prestigious John Walker & Sons carafe, made on the occasion of the Jubilee of Her Majesty Elizabeth II, Queen of England.
Luxepack offered a booth at the Shanghai Luxury Platinum Pentawards (Landor San Francisco, USA) and EskoArtwork gave software to the winner of the Best of The Show, Turner Duckworth, London & San Francisco.
Each of these prizes is worth approximately € 5,000!
Esko, Sleever and Taschen shop showed their skills and achievements to the guests, who gathered in large numbers at their stands.
The Best of Show
The best design across all categories, having received the majority of points awarded by the international jury, was awarded the prestigious Diamond Pentaward 2012.
It was the Anglo-American agency Turner & Duckworth, represented by its creative team and its two founders, David Turner and Bruce Duckworth, which won the coveted Diamond Pentaward for its work on the brand and packaging of Diet Coke, a brilliant example of revolutionary simplicity!
The evening ended, under the thousand bright lights of the chandeliers, with a beautifully creative sweet and savoury buffet prepared by the chefs at the Grand Hotel. Veuve Clicquot offered champagne to start the party. The guests had the opportunity to exchange ideas and business cards, meet designers from the 4 corners of the world. Several students were even offered internships in world-class agencies!
